Our Team

Founder and managing partner of HealthCap. Previously, Björn pursued scientific research in the biochemistry of inflammation at Karolinska Institutet and headed the Health Care Equity Research Team at ABB Aros Securities. He was voted best pharmaceutical analyst consecutively from 1993 to 1996 according to Swedish business journal Affärsvärlden. During his tenure with ABB Aros Securities, Björn also served as an advisor to the management of several major pharmaceutical and medical technology companies. Björn Odlander has extensive experience from multiple board assignments from listed and unlisted companies in the life-science sector, including Q-Med AB, NicOx SA, Jerini AG, and Bonesupport AB.

Managing partner of HealthCap. Prior to re-joining HealthCap as a partner in 2010, Mårten worked with global business development at Merck Serono as a director, focusing on product and technology licensing. Prior to Merck Serono, he was a medical associate with HealthCap. Mårten is a Medical Doctor trained at Lund University. He has pursued research in the field of protein chemistry and coagulation at Lund University and Novo Nordisk, rendering him a PhD in Clinical Chemistry in 2003. He is the author of 16 scientific papers published in peer-reviewed journals. He has also a BSc degree in Business Administration from the Lund University School of Economics and Management.

Partner and general counsel of HealthCap. Prior to joining HealthCap in 2021, Kristina was a partner at the Swedish law firm Vinge and part of Vinge’s M&A practice group, as well as head of the Life Sciences and Health sector group. Kristina has an LLM degree from Gothenburg University.

Partner of HealthCap. Prior to joining HealthCap as a medical associate in 2019, Carl was the co-founder and CEO of a digital health start-up that sold in 2019. Carl is a Medical Doctor trained at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm and at Harvard Medical School in Boston. He worked clinically in general surgery and pursued research in the field of hepato-biliary malignancies at the Karolinska Institute rendering him a PhD in clinical epidemiology in 2017. He is the author of five scientific papers published in peer-reviewed journals.

Partner of HealthCap. Prior to joining HealthCap in 2001, Johan was with SEB Företagsinvest (the venture capital arm of SEB) to supervise its healthcare portfolio. He has senior management experience from Astra Pain Control as project director and AstraZeneca as global product director and member of the global therapy area management team of Pain & Inflammation. Johan received his medical training at the Karolinska Institute and received his PhD in basic neuroscience in 1991. He served as a lecturer in neuroscience and also held a position as assistant dean at the Karolinska Institute Graduate School for two years. Johan has four years of clinical specialist training in pediatrics and pediatric neurology.

Partner of HealthCap. Prior to joining HealthCap in 1997, Staffan gained over 10 years of investment banking experience, mainly with ABB Aros Securities in Sweden. There he gained experience in fields ranging from securitization to corporate finance advisory work. Staffan received his MSc in Engineering from the Royal Institute of Technology of Stockholm.

Partner of HealthCap. Prior to joining HealthCap in 2000, Per gained over 15 years of investment banking experience, mainly with ABB Aros Securities in Sweden. In his last position with ABB Aros Securities, as a director in the firm’s corporate finance department, he specialized in the areas of merger transactions, initial public offerings, and equity incentive programs. Prior to this, he was head of research, also at ABB Aros Securities. Per received his MSc in Engineering from the Institute of Technology in Linköping.

Partner of HealthCap. Prior to joining HealthCap in 2022, Max was a Partner at Alternative Solutions – the alternative asset arm of Carneo. Prior to Carneo, Max gained experience in management consulting and investment banking from EY and Nordea. Max holds an MSc from the University of Edinburgh and a BSc from Lund University.

Partner of HealthCap. Prior to joining HealthCap as an associate in 2004, Alex worked with IT Project management and network systems engineering. Alex received his MSc in Business Administration and Economics from the Stockholm School of Economics and has also studied at the Ivey Business School in Ontario, Canada, and computer sciences at Stockholm University.

Chairwoman of HealthCap. Prior to joining HealthCap as partner and chief administrative officer in 1999, Anki was president of Skandigen AB, a Swedish publicly quoted biotechnology investment company, and thereafter vice president of Industriförvaltnings AB Skandigen. Anki has an LLM degree from the University of Helsinki and an MBA from the University of Uppsala.

Venture partner of HealthCap, serving as CEO of certain companies in which HealthCap funds have invested. Prior to joining HealthCap in 2000, Carl-Johan gained 10 years of senior management experience from the pharmaceutical industry as VP Preclinical Research, Astra Pain Control AB; President, Astra Pain Control AB, and most recently VP and Head of Therapy Area Pain Control, AstraZeneca R&D. He became MD at the Karolinska Institute, has a PhD in neurobiology and post-doc experience from Harvard Medical School. He has also served as a tutor for PhD students. Carl-Johan has fulfilled specialist training for a board certificate in plastic and reconstructive surgery at Karolinska Hospital.

Venture partner of HealthCap, serving as CEO of several companies in which HealthCap funds have invested. Eugen joined HealthCap in 1997 and has significant executive management experience. He has an MD degree and a PhD in clinical pharmacology from the Karolinska Institute and practiced medicine from 1978-1987 at Karolinska Hospital, Huddinge.

Venture partner of HealthCap, CEO and co-founder of Tribune Therapeutics. Prior to joining HealthCap as a medical associate in 2019, Georg was a project manager leading a global development team at Bayer responsible for the technical development and manufacturing of a clinical-stage radiolabeled antibody. Georg joined Bayer following the acquisition of Healthcap portfolio company Algeta where he joined the late-stage development of Xofigo in 2013. Georg holds an MSc in Pharmacy from the University of Oslo.

Medical associate at HealthCap. Prior to joining HealthCap in 2021, Jakob worked in medical affairs for Eisai with responsibility for the company’s oncology portfolio in the Nordic countries. Jakob received his PhD in neurochemistry from Stockholm University and has additional research experience from the Karolinska Institute and KTH Royal Institute of Technology, working in the fields of nanomedicine and protein engineering. He is the author of 13 peer-reviewed scientific publications.

Medical associate at HealthCap. Prior to joining HealthCap in 2022, John worked as a general surgeon and researcher in clinical epidemiology and biostatistics at the Karolinska Institute with a focus on esophageal cancer and gastroesophageal reflux disease. John is a medical doctor trained at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm and the University of California in Los Angeles, with a PhD in clinical epidemiology from the Karolinska Institute, and has published over 25 peer-reviewed scientific publications.

Medical associate at HealthCap. Prior to joining HealthCap in 2023, Shamim worked in orthopedic surgery. She is a medical doctor trained at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm and Northwestern University in Chicago. Concurrent with her training, she received a PhD in molecular metabolism and cellular bioenergetics from the Karolinska Institute. In 2020, Shamim co-founded and led the scientific division of a consumer-facing platform for laboratory tests based in Chicago, which was acquired in 2021. She has co-authored four peer-reviewed scientific papers.

Associate at HealthCap. Prior to joining HealthCap in 2023, Josefine worked as an equity research analyst at Nordea, specializing in Swedish life science tools companies. Josefine has also gained experience in management consulting and has worked at life science companies in Stockholm and Amsterdam. Josefine holds an MSc in bioentrepreneurship from Karolinska Institutet and a bachelor’s degree in biomedicine from Uppsala University

Head of Compliance at HealthCap. Marile joined HealthCap in 2016, she previously worked as an external and internal auditor at EY, SHB, and Swedavia.

Senior Controller at HealthCap. Mikael joined HealthCap in 2006. Prior to joining HealthCap he worked as a business controller at Nordea, as an auditor at EY, and as CFO at a private company.

Investment monitor at HealthCap. Sofie joined HealthCap in 2002 and is a part of the back-office administration. Her main responsibility is monitoring securities and the fund’s ownership in the portfolio companies.

Receptionist at HealthCap. Nattiya is responsible for our conference facilities and also plays a supportive role in our workplace.

Office Manager at HealthCap. Gunilla joined HealthCap in 1997, she ensures that the office is running effectively on a day-to-day basis. She is also responsible for all our HealthCap events, where she organizes and plans to give them the special HealthCap signature atmosphere.

Chairman of the HealthCap Investment management companies in Switzerland. Dag joined HealthCap with the inception of the Limited Partnership VI in 2011. Prior to that, he had been close to the HealthCap team since the inception of the first LP and was at the time advisor to Aros Fondkommision. Dag has gained 30 years of healthcare business experience in various positions with medical device research and clients to his platform company Bricad Associates.

Holder of an MSc in economics from HEC Lausanne and certified Swiss CPA, Fabrice is leading HealthCap Swiss Investment management companies since 2018. Fabrice joined HealthCap after an international career of 25 years at EY, as financial audit director.
